The Meaning of Christmas

The last two weeks I’ve been in such a rush.  My job has kept me working til 7:00 PM most nights; there have been some church and family activities; I’ve been shopping; and I sent out late Christmas cards.

Every year I think I’ll get things done earlier and be able to spend more time contemplating and enjoying the real meaning of Christmas.  Now it’s Christmas Eve.  The gifts are wrapped. Tomorrow we’ll have a family gathering and dinner.  But tonight I’m enjoying remembering the night when Jesus my Savior was born.  Without Him, I would have no reason to celebrate Christmas.

If you’ve watched Charlie Brown’s Christmas, you’ll probably remember Charlie’s frustration when things weren’t working out the way he wanted them to.  In frustration, he asks, “Isn’t there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?”

Linus answers with the true meaning of the holiday.  Watch what he says in this video.

I hope you can enjoy some time tonight and tomorrow turning your thoughts to that Precious Baby who was born in manger – born to reveal God to us and to give His life so that we can be redeemed from our sin.

May His peace be with you!
