Jesus’ Resurrection Power Devotional

Sometimes when I get to a certain level of worship, the Lord gives me visions –  not those I see with my eyes, but mental pictures through which He speaks to me.  Last night as I was worshiping with some other believers who gather in a barn on weekends, He spoke to me about the power of His resurrection in our own lives.

I saw Jesus coming like an explosion out of the tomb.  The stone covering the tomb was shattered and blown apart in many directions.  I realize that in Matthew 28 we are told that there was an earthquake and that an angel rolled the stone away from the tomb and sat on it.  However, God used this mental picture of the explosive power of the resurrection and the shattered stone to show me something.

Immediately after getting this picture of the explosive power of the resurrection, I saw Jesus come like an explosion and scatter all the barriers in our own lives – things that are keeping us from being close to Him.  He can cut those things out of our lives and set us free in an instant!   Because of His power to overcome death, it is a cinch for Him to change our lives.  But it’s up to us to yield to Him so that He can do this.

Awhile later I got a picture of a person standing behind a broken cement brick wall and looking over it.  There were still bricks cemented together forming part of a wall a little higher than her waist.  She was a Christian, and God had broken away many things in her life.  However, there were some leftover bricks still forming a partial wall around her.  Jesus moved toward the wall.  As I continued worshiping, I saw that image again, but this time there were big cracks forming in the wall.  More freedom was coming to her.

Sometimes we experience the explosive power of the resurrection which immediately sets us free from sin and hindrances in our lives.  Other times we experience the gradual working of the Holy Spirit.  The overall message of this vision is this:  Jesus stands ready to set us free from everything that is holding us back from experiencing His Presence and His work in our lives.  Let’s not hold back.  Let’s let Him smash away the stones and brick walls in our lives!
